Things are even worse today

We know that they are worse because of the horrible, illegal treatment that Bradley Manning is getting. And the Pentagon Papers matter because I now have grandsons who will be affected by this country, whether it goes to the left or further to the right.
Last month, my daughter spent the night in an emergency room. My husband sat with her and I watched my grandsons because her husband was out of town on business. My younger grandson, Henry, who was all of six months old at the time, woke up in the middle of the night. I plopped him down on the sofa and turned on the tv. I found The Most Dangerous Man in America, and was anxious to watch it as I am involved with the trial of 19 good souls who demonstrated, together with Daniel Elsberg, in front of the White House on March 19.

Having lived through the era of the Pentagon Papers, I was able to tell Henry all about what it was like to live back then and fight an immoral, unjust war. I think on some level he understood me, because he looked up at me the entire time I was talking. I want Henry, and his brother, Andy, to have heros. Ellsberg and Manning both fit into that category.
