I served in country north of Danang at Camp Eagle with the 101st airborne as a turbine engine mechanic by day and grunt by night. One night I was told to go to the hanger and get my tools and load up in the chopper that was waiting for me.When I got to the huey there was a pilot and co-pilot but no door gunners or crew chiefs, just me and the pilots.I asked to get a weapon not knowing where we were going, and was told to get in .We took off alone in the darkness with no other choppers.I asked where we were going and was told they couldnt say.I knew exactly where we were headed and it was west.We flew for about 30minutes west before getting orders to turn around and come back.I know now that we were headed for Laos and I knew we weren’t suppose to be there. The whole war was nothing but lies.
