Everything that happened with the pentagon papers still applies to this day. While we still have people coming forward on something like wikileaks it is something that still needs to be pushed in this day and age. People look at technology and where we are as a society as this great tool for exposing the truth, but the truth is that there is a lot more bullshit on the internet, in media or the in government then the “reality” that is told to us. What happened during that period of time happened is that there was a tipping point in the truthful information due to technology that was being exposed, and a lack of technology to fully “brainwash” the public. Now you can go home and turn on your choice a hundred TV shows, a wall of DVDs, or go onto the computer. But if you turn on anything “informative” you will just be an audience to talking heads that tell half truths and spew ignorance through mindset of capitalism (MSNBC, CNN, and FOX). People coming forward and exposing something that creates a realization that there needs to be a fundamental change in how our society thinks and values life (ours and others) is something will always need to be there.
